How should compression gear fit?

Compression should feel close and supportive without feeling restrictive. The waistband should sit flat, the fabric should not bunch behind the knees or under shorts, and the wearer should still be able to run, kick, bend and stretch comfortably. Can this be worn under soccer, footy or training uniforms?
